United Through Reading® (UTR) is a non-profit organization founded in 1989. Its mission is to unite military families facing physical separation by facilitating the bonding experience of reading aloud. They provide service members the opportunity to be video recorded reading a children's book for the children in their lives. The recording and book are then sent home so that the children can watch the service member on demand. UTR serves all military branches for all types of separation including deployment, drill weekends, and duty nights. They also serve non-custodial parents, extended family, geo-bachelors, and the wounded, ill, and injured at medical facilities. Recording locations are available at over 200 locations around the world, including in military commands, on and near military bases, at events, and in there new free app. The United Through Reading App is free and available on Android and iOS.
